Sarabi’s Story: Part 3—Deeper into the World of Cat Rescue

A Journey of Love, Loss, and Rescue

I’m thrilled to share with you a recent interview I had with Astara Jane Ashley, where we delved into the heartwarming and transformative story behind my book, Sarabi Story: A Maine Coon Cat's Perspective on Life, Love, and Family.

In our conversation, I opened up about the profound impact Sarabi, our beloved Maine Coon cat, had on my family. Sarabi was more than just a pet—she was a source of love, healing, and connection that held our family together in ways I could never have imagined. Her presence in our lives was a testament to the deep bond we can share with our animal companions, and she taught us invaluable lessons about resilience, compassion, and the healing power of love.

After Sarabi's passing, I found myself drawn deeper into the world of cat rescue. This journey led me to adopt a Bengal cat and, eventually, to rescue a frail Maine Coon cat in need of major surgeries. But the story didn’t end there. To my surprise, I discovered a colony of cats in my area—32 in total—that were in desperate need of help. With the support of friends and fellow rescuers, I’ve been able to place 28 of these cats in loving homes, and I continue to work on finding homes for the remaining few.

Through this experience, I’ve come to realize the significant role women play in the world of cat rescue. It’s a labor of love, often undertaken by women who dedicate their time, resources, and hearts to saving these precious lives. Their contributions are vital, and it’s important that we acknowledge and value the work they do.

I invite you to watch the full interview with Astara Jane Ashley here, where we explore these themes and more. And if you’re moved by the story of Sarabi and the impact she had on our lives, I encourage you to pick up a copy of Sarabi Story here.

Thank you for being a part of this journey with me, and for your support in spreading the message of love, healing, and the importance of rescuing and caring for our animal companions.

With love,

Kathie
